Position Description | Orientation Ambassadors

The Office of Student Affairs at NYU Law is accepting applications for the role of Orientation Ambassadors for the 2026 1L Orientation Program. Orientation Ambassadors will play an integral role in welcoming our incoming students to the Law School community and help facilitate programming throughout Orientation Week, running from August 19 – 24, 2026.
Selected Ambassadors will work in pairs and will each oversee a small cohort of incoming students organized by Lawyering sections. This structure is intended to help foster connection and provide new students with a more personal and consistent point of contact throughout Orientation Week.

APPLICATION DEADLINE: Sunday, July 12, 2026 at 11:59 P.M. Eastern Time
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Attend one in person training with the OSA Team and fellow Orientation Ambassadors in advance of the program. Training will be on Friday, August 14th, 2026 time tbd.
- Welcome incoming 1L students and help foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive orientation experience.
- Serve as a peer mentor and resource for new students, answering questions and sharing insights about academic, social, and student life at the Law School.
- Attend and actively participate in designated Orientation Ambassador events, including:
- Orientation Welcome Session with Cohort
- Orientation Block Party
- Closing Lunch and Cohort Meeting
- Facilitate introductions and encourage engagement among members of assigned student cohorts.
- Maintain communication with Student Affairs staff regarding student questions, concerns, or issues that may arise during Orientation.
- Serve as an ongoing point of contact for assigned students during the Orientation period.
TIME COMMITMENT:
- Approximately 10 hours during 1L orientation in August (subject to change as program agenda is finalized):
- Friday, August 14 (2 hours, time tbd)
- Wednesday, August 19 (3:00 – 6:00 p.m.)
- Sunday, August 23 (3:00 – 6:00 p.m.)
- Monday, August 24 (11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.)
COMPENSATION:
- $200 stipend
- Meals provided
- For students living in the residence halls, the cost of early move-in will be covered beginning on August 14, 2026.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- All rising 2L and 3L NYU Law students are eligible to apply.
- Must be available for training and selected dates of the orientation program in August.
- Enthusiastic about welcoming incoming students to campus.
- Experience facilitating group activities and educational workshops is a plus.
