The legal profession has the power to shape communities, advance justice, and create lasting changes. Student Ambassadors for the New York City Bar play an important role in advancing the City Bar’s mission to support a strong, diverse legal profession committed to excellence, the rule of law, and access to justice. Our Student Ambassador Program offers law students a unique opportunity to serve as the official liaison between their law school and one of the nation’s leading bar associations.
Program Goal
Empower the next generation of legal professionals by connecting law students to the opportunities, resources, and community of the City Bar. Through social media, campus outreach, listserv communications, and participation in on-campus and City Bar events, student ambassadors serve as champions for student engagement, inspiring their peers to take advantage of networking opportunities, career development programs, academic resources, and all the benefits that support success throughout law school and beyond.
Why Law Students Should Participate
• Professional Development. Student ambassadors gain exposure to the legal profession while strengthening leadership and communications skills beyond the classroom through committee participation which provides an opportunity for students to gain visibility while assisting with reports, amicus briefs, developing programs and much more.
• Career Development. Impactful career exploration opportunities, educational programs and resources (hybrid & in-person), networking receptions, and social events designed to foster lasting professional connections.
• Exclusive benefits. In addition to free membership, student ambassadors have access to studying tools, legal research, and more.
Who We’re Looking For
Two exceptional NYU Law students – one JD and one LL.M. student who is eager to make a meaningful impact on campus and within the legal community. Ideal candidates are proactive, enthusiastic, and passionate about enhancing their law school experience and future careers. Student Ambassadors should be able to commit approximately four hours per month to participate in virtual meetings, promote City Bar programs and resources through campus outreach and social media, assist with on-campus events, and attend the Student Ambassador Orientation and End-of-Year Celebration.
