Apply for the Birnbaum Women’s Leadership Center’s (BWLC) Women’s Leadership Fellows Program (WLFP)! The application for the WLFP opens this week on Thursday, August 29, at 9:30 a.m. The application will remain open until Monday, September 30, at 11:59 p.m, and the cohort will be selected in early November. Due to the nature of the program, the WLFP is only open to 1L JD students at NYU Law. We invite interested students to visit the BWLC table at the Student Groups Fair on September 4 at 4-6 p.m. and our WLFP Info Session on September 16 at 5-6 p.m.
The WLFP is a co-curricular leadership development opportunity for 10-12 students in which participants will build key leadership skills. Students apply and are selected as Fellows in the fall of their 1L year and participate in programming throughout their time at NYU Law. The WLFP begins with the Sara Moss Women’s Leadership Training Program, a rigorous week-long leadership development program for 1L Fellows that combines self-assessment, instruction, experiential learning, team-building, coaching, and mentoring. Each Fellow will receive a stipend of $2,500 in their 1L year. Due to the three-year nature of this program, it is only open to 1L JD students. The 2025 Sara Moss Women’s Leadership Training Program is scheduled to take place January 13-17, 2025, before classes resume for the Spring semester.
In the Women’s Leadership Fellows Program (WLFP), participants will build key leadership skills. Fellows will work closely together as a cohort, as well as independently, as participants develop their own individual, authentic leadership styles. Students apply and are selected as Fellows in the fall of their 1L year and participate in programming throughout their time at NYU Law. We seek to build a robust inclusive cohort, and we welcome applications from any first-year JD student at NYU Law seeking woman-focused leadership training. Students of all gender identities and expressions (including but not limited to cisgender, transgender, nonbinary, gender non-conforming, and/or genderqueer) are encouraged to apply. Students who have not previously had the opportunity to develop their leadership skills are encouraged to apply.
More information about the WLFP, including a link to the application and a list of FAQ, is available on the BWLC website. If you have any questions, please email us at womensleadership@nyu.edu.
