Aug. 05: [DEADLINE EXTENDED] Graduate Lawyering Program TA Applications for Fall Semester 2024

Posted on

All rising 2Ls and 3Ls are invited to apply to be a TA for the Graduate Lawyering Program, which serves NYU’s international LLM students. Graduate Lawyering TAs are hired for the fall semester only and receive one academic credit for either a weekly two-credit section or two one-credit sections meeting on alternate weeks. Being a TA for Graduate Lawyering is a great opportunity to get to know students from all over the world, many of whom have already practiced law in their home country.

Compared to JD Lawyering, the Graduate Lawyering course focuses more narrowly on legal research, writing, and analysis, and English is generally not our students’ first language. Graduate Lawyering TAs work closely with faculty in a collegial atmosphere. Under faculty supervision, TAs review students’ written work and provide feedback. TAs also meet with students needing extra help with their writing. Depending on TAs’ interests, TAs sometimes teach part of a lesson or organize social events for the class.

Because Graduate Lawyering sections meet at various days and times throughout the week, TAs need not worry about conflicts with their other courses and can apply without having finalized their fall course schedule.

To apply, please send your resume, transcript, and a writing sample by Aug 5 to Caitlin Dean, Graduate Lawyering Administrative Assistant, at caitlin.dean@nyu.edu. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Irene Ayers, Director of the Graduate Lawyering Program, irene.ayers@nyu.edu
