Sept. 16: Pro Bono Volunteer Information Session & Luncheon with CVTC

Posted on

The Public Interest Law Center, together with the Crime Victims Treatment Center (CVTC), will host an in-person information session on available pro bono projects and the volunteer application process for interested JD and LLM students. Pizza will be served. This session will be recorded.

The Crime Victims Treatment Center (https://www.cvtcnyc.org/), is a not-for-profit organization committed to helping people heal from violent crime.

The Crime Victims Treatment Center (CVTC) is seeking a Spanish-speaking Pro Bono Volunteer to support our Legal Services Program (LSP). The volunteer will assist with trauma-informed legal advocacy for survivors of interpersonal violence, with a strong focus on Family Law, Criminal Justice Advocacy, and Immigration Relief (U visa, T visa, VAWA, asylum, SIJS).

Under the supervision of the Program Manager and legal team, the volunteer will gain hands-on experience working with survivors of sexual violence and other trauma through direct client support, legal research, and case preparation. This is an opportunity to contribute to survivor-centered legal work within a supportive, interdisciplinary team environment.

The 50 hours of pro bono work required of students to graduate can be fulfilled through completion of these projects; however, please be advised that we are seeking students who will be committed to completing the work assigned in collaboration with the program manager and legal team.
