October Volunteer Opportunity: Deferred Action for Labor Enforcement Clinics!

Posted on

National Day Laborer Organizing Network seeks Spanish-speaking volunteers for two upcoming Deferred Action for Labor Enforcement (DALE) legal clinics in the NYC area. The first will take place Saturday October 5 in NYC with Worker’s Justice Project (register here!) and the second will take place Sunday October 20 in New Brunswick with New Labor and the Mexican Consulate (register here!)

DALE is a crucial but little-known deferred action program announced last year that provides temporary immigration protection and work authorization for 4 years to workers at companies under investigation by a labor agency. DALE has the potential to be transformative for undocumented workers and help turn the tide on labor abuse. And with the uncertainty of the upcoming election, we are in a crucial window of opportunity to help as many people as possible access this now 4-year protection.

Volunteers will gain substantive knowledge on an important form of relief for immigrant workers while strengthening skills in direct service provision within an organizing framework. All applications will be reviewed by a supervising attorney before being submitted. Volunteers must speak Spanish (limited positions open for non-Spanish-speaking volunteers), attend the full day of the clinic (approximately 9-5pm) and attend a virtual training if they have not previously volunteered. Please email lwilfong@ndlon.org wiith any questions and we hope you can join us!
