The Public Interest Law Center invites you to sign up for an International Court of Justice (ICJ) workshop on strategic litigation and recent trends in cases brought before the World Court; followed by a career conversation with Anne Coulon (LLM ’12):

During the first hour of the workshop, Anne Coulon will discuss the latest trends in ICJ litigation. Looking at the Court’s docket, she will address, in particular, the prominence of certain conventions in recent cases brought before the Court, the increased recourse to interventions and the resurgence of advisory proceedings. Drawing on her experience as a former legal officer at the Court and later on as Counsel to sovereign States involved in ICJ proceedings, she will also discuss the practical implications of the current trends.

During the remaining half hour, Anne will share her insights and advice on pursuing a career in international law and international dispute resolution.

 

Background:

Anne Coulon is a specialist in public international law and international dispute resolution. She advises sovereign States and other actors on matters involving all aspects of public international law and frequently involving the strategic coordination of proceedings across multiple fora. Anne has particular expertise representing States in contentious and advisory proceedings before the International Court of Justice (ICJ). Prior to acting as Counsel for States, Anne worked at the ICJ for six years, including as the principal legal adviser to the former President of the Court, H.E. Judge Ronny Abraham. Anne is an alumna of NYU Law, she obtained an LL.M. in International Legal Studies in 2012.
