Jan. 19: NYC Bankruptcy Assistance Project (NYC BAP) Training

Posted on

The New York City Bankruptcy Assistance Project (NYC BAP) is part of Legal Services NYC, the largest provider of civil legal services in the United States. Legal volunteers work to save New York’s most vulnerable residents from wage garnishments, property seizures, and foreclosures. We target low-income working families, for whom bankruptcy relief can make the difference between being able to participate in the economy or not.

NYC BAP seeks law student volunteers for its bankruptcy petitions program. Volunteers will take an intensive bankruptcy practice training, meet and screen potential clients, and then prepare the clients’ bankruptcy petitions under the supervision of experienced attorneys.

The training is mandatory, and will be held on Friday, January 19, 10:00am-4:00pm in Furman Hall, Classroom 216. There will be a 45 minute break and lunch will be served. To RSVP for the training, click here.

Please email Alaura Rich at adr9719@mercury.law.nyu.edu with any logistical questions. Following the training, if you are interested in participating in BAP, please send your name, email address, and phone number to Alaura Rich at adr9719@mercury.law.nyu.edu to set up a screener interview.

This event is not open to the public.
