Come learn about NYU Law School’s Pro Bono Scholars Program (PBSP) Externship! The PBSP is a unique program through the New York Office of Court Administration that allows graduating law students to spend their final semester working full-time with legal services organizations. As part of the program, students are permitted to take the February New York State bar exam during their 3L year, which will allow them to be admitted to practice in New York immediately after graduation.
Through NYU’s Pro Bono Scholars Externship, students will be placed with various legal services providers in New York City during the spring semester of their 3L year to gain practical skills and experience. Students will also participate in a weekly seminar to complement their fieldwork that will provide an intensive analysis of the legal, strategic, ethical and cultural issues that typically arise in public interest lawyering.
At the info session, you will have the opportunity to hear from Andrew Friedman, who will be teaching the 2024 PBSP Externship seminar. Andrew is an NYU alum and a co-founder and former co-Executive Director of both Make The Road New York and the Center for Popular Democracy, and is currently a co-founder and the Senior Director of Strategy at The Action Lab.
