The Antitrust Bureau in the Office of the New York State Attorney General (OAG) will host one New York University School of Law LLM 2024 graduate to serve as an Antitrust Fellow for a one-year term in the Antitrust Bureau in New York City, and will work with OAG staff on antitrust matters. The Antitrust Fellow will be supervised by the OAG and owe a duty of loyalty to the State of New York as their client.
The Antitrust Fellow will receive $45,000, which will be paid by NYU School of Law. Please be advised the OAG will not provide additional funding or benefits.
Duties:
- Investigate, litigate, and otherwise advocate on a full range of antitrust issues, including price-fixing, bid-rigging, horizontal and vertical restraints, monopolization, and mergers. The Antitrust Bureau works closely with other state antitrust enforcers on matters of regional or national impact, and with the United States Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission.
- Perform advanced legal work, including: developing and implementing strategies for an investigation; drafting subpoenas and information requests to gather evidence; interviewing potential witnesses and targets and taking testimony; reviewing documentary and economic evidence and formulating potential legal theories; and drafting pleadings, motions, and briefs.
- Participate in legal skills and practice area training.
Qualifications:
- Applicants must be a member of the 2024 NYU LLM graduating class.
- Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States. Fellows must reside in (or intend to soon become a resident of) New York State.
- Familiarity and experience with antitrust law (including through prior work experience, internships or clinical experience, and classwork).
- Excellent writing, editing, research, and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and in a team dynamic.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to self-manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Demonstrated interest in public service.
