The Guernica 37 Centre is looking for a law student, who has demonstrated a strong commitment to advocacy and scholarship related to the protection of human rights, and the promotion of justice and accountability for atrocity crimes, to conduct an internship over the coming summer (to start in late May or early June 2024). On this occasion, the selected individual will work with members of the Guernica team on an initiative oriented at pursuing accountability in cases of sexual violence in religious communities. The selected student will mostly conduct legal research in relation to US jurisdictions and legal writing.

The Guernica 37 Centre is a not-for-profit organization in California, United States. It partners with communities and key civil society actors in different countries to design and implement context- oriented strategies of meaningful and transformative accountability for human rights violations and international crimes.

Our Internship Program is aimed at providing hands on training and allowing students to build upon skills acquired in the classroom and past experiences. For this special thematic call, the student must have active link with a recognized US law school.

The internship will be home-based and, thus, conducted through virtual means of coordination and collaboration. The student selected will be supervised by a Guernica staff member. The Guernica Centre does not financially remunerate interns.

Interested students are encouraged to present their Curriculum Vitae together with brief cover letter that states the amount of time they could dedicate to this endeavor over the course of the summer, and their start date (or. availability). They should send the respective documents, labelling the e-mail “G37 Thematic Internship” to victoriab@guernicacentre.org by April 19, 2024.
