The Arthur Garfield Hays Civil Liberties Program invites second-year students with a demonstrated commitment to civil liberties and civil rights and strong skills to apply to be 2025-2026 Fellows.  Fellows receive course credit and cash stipends for their participation in the Hays seminar and their field work with non-profit organizations engaged in impact litigation, policy analysis, or direct services related to civil liberties and civil rights.  Specific areas of focus may include such topics as First Amendment freedoms (speech, press, free exercise, Church-state), racial equality, immigrants’ rights, criminal justice, economic justice, reproductive and women’s rights, and LGBTQ rights. Materials describing the Program and the selection process are available on the NYU Hays website.  Professors Helen Hershkoff and Alexis Karteron will direct the Program in 2025–2026.

Applications must be submitted by Thursday, February 13, 2025, noon, in a single PDF packet uploaded to https://forms.gle/3oBBTMvLBMJnMNuy5 (please access using Google Chrome).

Thank you for your consideration.
