This week, the Library will be holding multiple instructional sessions on a variety of topics:

Legal Data 101 – Monday, October 7, from 1:00pm to 2:00pm
Join us for an introductory session designed for law students on the basics of legal data. Explore the fundamentals of legal data and its practical applications in research and practice. Enhance your research skills with insights on data sourcing, processing, analysis, and storage. Learn about available data services at the NYU Law Library and key contacts for support.

Scholarly Legal Research – Tuesday, October 8, from 1:30pm to 3:00pm
This session will discuss best practices for choosing a topic, conducting preemption checks, and utilizing advanced research methods, with a particular focus on identifying and utilizing specialty sources. Attention may be given to the structure of academic articles, citation management tools, or the use of AI in research, depending on student interest. Registrants will be given a survey before the session so that some individualized recommendations may be given and will be expected to actively work on a research project during the session.

Research Refresher: Lexis & Westlaw – Wednesday, October 9, from 4:45pm to 5:45pm
This session is a mid-semester refresher on using Lexis & Westlaw. Topics covered will include search strategies and how to make the most of the tools on each platform.
