Summer Teaching Assistants
The Graduate Lawyering Program, in conjunction with the Office of Graduate Affairs, is looking for Teaching Assistants (TAs) during August 2025. Please see the position descriptions below. The Graduate Lawyering faculty will review applications and interview candidates in early April.

A. Introduction to US Law and US Legal Practice
The Graduate Lawyering Program is seeking eight students to serve as Teaching Assistants for the Introduction to US Law and US Legal Practice (Intro) class for LLM students, scheduled to be held in-person August 11-22, 2025. In addition to supporting the Graduate Lawyering faculty, TAs will assist the Office of Graduate Affairs with events during Intro and Orientation. Intro TAs will receive a stipend of $2,500.
Teaching Assistants attend class (9:00 am – 12:10 pm and 1:00 – 2:00 pm), remain after class to respond to student questions, and, until 5:00 pm on most days, assist OGA with informational sessions and events that follow the Intro classes. Duties include assisting faculty; supporting students needing extra help; and sharing your knowledge about course selection, making the most of the LLM year, and adjusting to life in NYC. TAs attend pre-Intro preparatory meetings with faculty and Office of Graduate Affairs on Friday August 8, 2025. Additionally, TAs will be asked to lead a small-group activity in NYC on either Saturday August 23 or Sunday August 24.
B. Intensive Workshop
The Graduate Lawyering Program is seeking two Teaching Assistants for the Intensive Workshop, scheduled to be held in-person July 28 – August 8, 2025. TAs for Intro to US Law and US Legal Practice may also hold this position. Intensive Workshop TAs will receive a stipend of $1,500.
The Intensive Workshop is a two-week introduction to the US legal system, which focuses on improving students’ legal English skills. Professor Karen Ross directs the Intensive Workshop and teaches Section 1, and Professor Hon. Gerald Lebovits teaches Section 2. TAs will alternate one week in each section.
The Intensive Workshop TAs attend class (9:30 am – 1:00 pm) and answer questions during the morning break at 11:00–11:15 am and after class 1:00 – 1:30 pm. Duties include participating in student group discussions during class, coordinating student communication and meetings, and responding to students with questions about course materials.
