The New York Bar Foundation is currently accepting applications for the following fellowships and scholarships:
Jana Springer Behe Corporate Counsel Section Fellowship
Value: $7,000 Deadline: February 6, 2026
The fellowship is open to second year (2L) students who are enrolled in a law school in the State of New York from under-represented groups capable of fulfilling the requested work hours and responsibilities. The fellowship goal is twofold. First, to provide the selected organizations with a student from a diverse background to provide assistance; and second, to provide the student with an opportunity to experience in-house legal practice.

Trusts and Estates Law Section Fellowship
Value: $7,500 Deadline: February 16, 2026
The fellowship is open to first year (1L) and second year (2L) law students who are currently enrolled in law schools in the State of New York to work in trusts and estates law positions in the public sector in the State of New York during the summer months.

Kay Crawford Murray Commercial Division Diversity Fellowship
Value: $6,000 Deadline: March 6, 2026
The fellowship is open to all first year (1L) students currently enrolled in a law school in the State of New York. The fellowship will take place in the Commercial Division of the Supreme Court of New York in New York City.

The Norman Effman Scholarship
Value: $5,000 Deadline: May 18, 2026
The scholarship is awarded to a second year (2L) or third year (3L) law student who is enrolled in a law school in the State of New York that express an interest and intent to work in a rural locale representing indigent individuals who are litigants in Family court, criminal court, or other courts where the individual may be facing civil legal issues.
