RA for Prof. Trace M. Maddox | Deadline: December 10, 2025 (or until position is filled)

Compensation: $16.50/hour
Professor Maddox seeks to hire up to two students to conduct historical research over the coming months. RA’s will conduct up to forty (40) total hours of research into conceptions of birthright citizenship at common law and in the early United States. No familiarity with constitutional or immigration law is necessary, although an interest in legal history would probably be helpful. Professor Maddox hopes to tackle this project in earnest in the spring semester, so RA’s could complete work flexibly, including over winter break. This project alone is unlikely to produce enough work hours to qualify for credit and will therefore be paid at the standard hourly rate; students interested in RA’ing for credit should email Professor Maddox separately, as he may have additional work on another, similarly historical project.
