Dear 1Ls,
We hope you had a wonderful summer. We want to remind you that classes begin Tuesday, August 27. Here is a brief checklist to ensure that you have not missed important matters regarding the start of classes:
Class Assignments:
- Brightspace — Check Brightspace for syllabi and assignments for any courses for which you are registered. It is important to check Brightspace on a regular basis as professors may post new assignments and information at any time. Please note that not all faculty post assignments. You should email law.helpdesk@nyu.edu if you have any issues or difficulties with accessing Brightspace.
- Course Syllabi or Early Semester Assignments — Check the Course Syllabi and Early Semester Assignments page.
Schedules of Classes and Course Requirements: Please review the Fall 2024 course schedule, exam schedule, and any information which is stated in the course description. Be sure to check the course schedule for any revised room assignments.
Calendars: Please pay careful attention to the dates and deadlines in the Academic Calendar and Registration Calendar.
Online forms: Each new student must review and complete these forms by Tuesday, August 27. Forms may be accessed here. Please proof your response before submitting.
The U.S. Department of Education requires the Law School to ask newly enrolled students for demographic information. Please know your responses to the questions on the New Student Orientation Form are optional, but you must access this online form as it is the first of four pages of the required online forms.
- The Pledge of Academic Honesty provides students with detailed information about practices that violate the Law School’s academic policies. The information contained on this page sets forth the specific prohibitions against cheating, plagiarism, forgery, and the improper submission of written work. All students must pledge their agreement to comply with policies contained herein.
- The Memorandum of Understanding provides an overview of Law School and University policies, information on year-long registration and guidance on exams, and the methods of communication used by NYU Law to relay important information to students.
- The Photo Release authorize the use of a photo for educational purposes before use. Photos will be posted on a secure Class Roster website that will only be accessible by Law School faculty and administrators.
We hope you have a wonderful semester! If you have any questions, please contact the Office of Academic Services.
