Nov. 4: Moelis Urban Law & Public Affairs Fellowship Deadline

Posted on

1Ls are invited to apply to join the next class of Moelis Urban Law & Public Affairs Fellows. Created by NYU Law alumnus and Trustee Ron Moelis (’82), the Moelis Fellowship Program cultivates a group of NYU Law students who will develop the skills needed to forge public-private partnerships that advance investment in and development of urban communities. The fellowship capitalizes on the opportunities offered by both the Law School and New York City as a lab for innovation in today’s cities.

The Fellowship Program

Moelis Fellows gain experience across the nonprofit, government, and private sectors through:

  • A summer internship with a nonprofit organization, government agency, or private entity in a major urban center that focuses on community development and/or investment consistent with the mission of the fellowship;
  • A term-time internship at a relevant nonprofit organization, government agency, or business organization;
  • A one-semester position as a Research Assistant at the NYU Furman Center; and
  • Participation in the Land Use, Housing and Community Development in New York City Seminar (or another law school course aligned with the student’s interests and consistent with the focus of the fellowship).

Three fellows will be selected from the 1L class. Each will receive $10,000 for their 1L summer internship, $4,000 for their work as a Research Assistant at the NYU Furman Center, and $5,000 for their term-time internship.

Application Instructions:

Applicants should email the following materials to gail.zweig@nyu.edu no later than Wednesday, November 4, 2026:

  • A resume; and
  • A short personal statement (500 words maximum) describing your interest in working in community development and/or investment.

Finalists will receive invitations to interview by mid-November. Three Moelis Fellows will be notified of their selection in early December.

Please note: Moelis Fellows must spend their 1L summers working on community development and/or investment issues consistent with the mission of the fellowship. Applicants should keep this requirement in mind.
