Posted on

Did you miss the Scholarly Legal Research training last week? Have no fear–the Law Library is offering another on Tuesday, as well as several other trainings later this month and next! See below for descriptions of these events and instructions for registering:

Scholarly Legal Research
This workshop is designed to cover best practices related to scholarly legal research, based on the needs and interests of the attending students. We may discuss choosing a topic, conducting preemption checks, or utilizing advanced research methods, with a particular focus on identifying specialty sources. Other possible topics are the structure of academic articles, citation management tools, subject-specific resources, or the role of AI in academic research. Registrants will be given a survey before the session so that some individualized recommendations may be given and will be expected to actively work on a research project during the session.

This workshop will be held in person, at 2:00pm on October 20. Register here.

Legal Research Primer & RA Training
Are you a researcher seeking to hone your legal research skills? Or an RA supporting legal research? Whether you are working on a research project, a paper or something more, if it involves legal research, do join us as we learn how to use library resources effectively in the legal research process!

This session will be held virtually on October 21 at 1:15pm. Register here.

Westlaw’s AI Tools & Functionalities
Join this session to find out more about Westlaw’s AI tools, including CoCounsel. It will start with some AI basics before moving into how each of the AI tools on the platform work and their practical use cases.

This virtual event will be held twice: on Thursday, October 29, at 5:00pm and on Friday, November 13, at 1:00pm. Register here for the October 29 event, and here for the November 13 event.

Responsible AI Use with Lexis Protégé
Join this session to find out more about Lexis Protégé. It will start off with AI generally—trends in the legal industry, expectations for attorneys using AI, and the potential risks—and then turn specifically to Protégé.

This virtual event will be held twice: on Friday, October 30, at 11:30am and on Monday, November 9, at 4:45pm. Register here for the October 30 event, and here for the November 9 event.
