Nature of Research: The RA will help the U.S.-Asia Law Institute stay abreast of important legal developments in East Asia. They will draft our weekly web feature, This Week in Asia Law (TWIAL), and maintain a log of trends and pending developments. From time to time the RA may be asked to provide research supports to USALI’s other work, including speaker events and courses.

Can work be done remotely? Yes but periodic in-person check-ins are required.

Qualifications: 2L, 3L, LLM, SJD students may apply. Must have strong research, analysis, and writing skills; interest in comparative law; familiarity with at least one East Asian legal jurisdiction and interest in learning about others; and at least one major East Asian language (Chinese, Japanese, Korean).

Approximate Dates of Employment: Sept-December with possibility of continuing in the spring semester.

Approximate Number of Hours/Week: maximum 10 hours per week.

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Law, the hourly base salary at NYU Law School for student employment positions is $17 per hour.
