Nov. 19: Gina McCarthy Speaking at NYU Law

On Monday, November 17, Gina McCarthy will be speaking at NYU Law about the potential for climate action at the state and local levels in the current moment, her work with America Is All In, and related topics. McCarthy is one of the country’s most respected experts on climate change, the environment, and public health.
 
Time and location: 1:10 to 2:10 p.m. in Furman 110.

Gina McCarthy is currently a Senior Advisor at Bloomberg Philanthropies, the Managing Co-Chair of the America Is All In coalition, and a Senior Fellow at The Fletcher School’s Climate Policy Lab at Tufts University. She is also an Operating Advisor at Pegasus Capital Advisors and a Senior Advisor at TPG Rise Climate Fund. 
In the Biden administration, McCarthy was the first White House National Climate Advisor in 2021-2022. From 2013–2017, under President Obama, she was the Administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
 
McCarthy’s career highlights also include serving as President and CEO of the Natural Resources Defense Council and Commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection, and senior positions in the administrations of five Massachusetts governors.  
 
McCarthy earned a Bachelor of Arts in Social Anthropology from the University of Massachusetts at Boston and a joint Master of Science in Environmental Health Engineering, Planning and Policy from Tufts University.
