The Public Interest Law Center invites you to sign up for a talk with the Vance Center for International Justice. The Vance Center’s Jaime Chávez Alor, Associate Executive Director, and Milena Klimberg van Marrewijk (LLM ’24), Program Advisor, Human Rights and Access to Justice, will introduce the organization and current initiatives, as well as share ways that interested students can get involved; including via term-time and summer internships, pro bono volunteering, and postgraduate fellowships.

About the Vance Center:

The Vance Center advances global justice by engaging lawyers across borders to support civil society and an ethically active legal profession. Since our founding in 2002, the Vance Center has made pro bono legal services available to hundreds of clients and strengthened the legal profession worldwide through sustained long-term initiatives, responsive structures, and international networks. We mobilize lawyers to take up their role as justice activists, working to uphold the rule of law, combat corruption, increase access to justice, and protect fundamental human and environmental rights.

We fulfill our mission through two approaches:

  1. We provide pro bono legal representation to civil society organizations and international human rights bodies around the world, in partnership with leading law firms.
  2. We engage law firms, bar associations, law schools, and pro bono clearinghouses with innovative initiatives to strengthen an ethical pro bono practice, build systemic support for public interest law, and reduce barriers to a more diverse legal field.
