NEW TIMELINE: LABOR LAW FELLOWSHIP APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN FOR 2LS NOW!
Over the years, we have heard from multiple mentor organizations, schools, and students that they would prefer to have the fellowship application process happen earlier in the year for rising-2Ls, and this year we are making it happen!
Many prestigious non-profit legal organizations, and most law firms that want to attract highly qualified rising 2Ls, recruit and interview prospective 2L summer associates in the summer after their 1L years, and they make selections shortly before or just after the 2L year begins. We at the Fund have made a decision so that our interested rising-2Ls can apply earlier in the year to secure fellowships for summer 2026!
Starting with the summer 2026 season, we are now making it an available option to apply early to certain organizations as a rising-2L!
First Round, Rising 2L’s Only Timeline:
• Monday, June 2, 2025 – Applications open to rising 2L applicants only. Mentor orgs can begin interviewing students as they receive applications.
• Friday, August 1, 2025 –Orgs can make their PBF selections, informing PBF staff for offers. Interviewing continues, as needed, throughout August & September.
• Tuesday, September 30, 2025 – PBF First Round Application portal closes.
Please note that this will not replace our “traditional” timeline with the November application opening and December offer-making that we have followed for the past couple of years.
We will still be opening the application process up normally in the fall and inviting 1Ls & 2Ls to apply.
If you decide to apply during this session, and do not secure a fellowship, you will be able to reapply in November.
The Peggy Browning Fund offers paid summer fellowship for 1L and 2L law students in union-side labor law and workplace justice advocacy. Over 10 weeks, students gain practical and substantive skills in the practice of workers’ rights law and build a network that will support them through their legal education and beyond. Not only is PBF the premier labor law fellowship program, it’s also a national network of over 1,500 alumni, designed to open the door and empower the next generation of workplace justice advocates.
